Employee Guide: Booking Time Off to Travel Home
At Citrus, we understand that employees may need to travel home to visit family or attend to personal matters. However, it is important to ensure this is done in a way that maintains professionalism and avoids disruption to the business.
To ensure fairness and smooth operations, the following guidelines must be followed:
1. Advance Notice Required
You must give notice before booking any time off for travel.
The minimum required notice period is 4 weeks before your intended travel date.
This allows us time to adjust schedules and cover workloads appropriately.
2. Approval of Time Off
You must not book flights or make travel plans until your time off has been approved by your line manager.
Submit your request for annual leave via the usual process (e.g., HR system, written request, or email).
Approval is based on business needs and staff coverage; therefore, leave may not always be guaranteed.
3. Unauthorised Absence
Leaving without booking time off in advance or failing to return as scheduled will be considered unauthorised absence.
This is a serious matter and may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.
4. Communication
If unexpected circumstances arise (e.g., family emergencies), notify your manager immediately.
Open and honest communication helps us support you during challenging times.
5. Responsibility for Travel Arrangements
It is your responsibility to plan travel that aligns with your approved time off.
Ensure you leave and return to work as scheduled to avoid any disruption.
Key Reminders:
Do not book flights before your leave is approved.
Follow the 4-week notice rule for planned trips.
Failure to follow this policy can result in disciplinary action.
