I cant get in to the site as the lock/code wont work

If you arrive at a site and cannot gain access due to a lock or code issue, follow the steps below to resolve the problem efficiently and maintain a professional approach:

Step 1: Stay Calm and Assess the Situation

  • Double-check the code or key you've been provided. Ensure you’re entering the correct code or using the right key for the location.
  • If there is a keypad or electronic lock, check for issues like stuck buttons or low power on the device.

Step 2: Contact Your Help desk

  • Call help desk immediately to inform them of the issue. Provide the following details:
    • The site address.
    • The specific issue (e.g., lock won't open, code isn't working, key doesn't fit).
    • Time of arrival at the site.

Step 3: Check for Backup Access Details

  • Review any backup access methods provided, such as:
    • A spare key stored in a designated secure location.
    • A secondary code for emergencies.
  • Important: Always ensure that any backup access details are authorised for use.

Step 4: Document the Issue

  • Take a photo or make a note of any visible issues with the lock or keypad (e.g., damage, power indicator lights).
  • Record the time and details of your actions, including any attempts to contact your supervisor or the client.

Step 5: Wait for Instructions

  • Remain at the site unless advised otherwise by your supervisor or the client.
  • Avoid attempting to force the lock or code entry, as this could cause damage and liability.

Step 6: Follow Up

  • Once the issue is resolved and you gain access, inform your supervisor or the client.
  • Complete your tasks as scheduled and make a note of any delays or changes in the job completion time.

Additional Tips:

  • Always verify the access details before heading to the site.
  • Keep your company-issued phone or contact device fully charged to ensure you can reach assistance when needed.
  • Maintain a professional attitude, even in challenging situations.

By following this guide, you can manage access issues effectively and minimise disruptions to your work.
